Changing Perspective

While helping our son organize a large pile of papers, I came across this gem that I wanted to share with you.  How differently we can view each day!  What we focus on changes our perspective and makes a world of difference in how we see the details of our life.  The author’s name is missing so I can’t give proper credit but that doesn’t dim the message.  After you have read this, be sure to follow the directions at the end of the poem.

Today was the absolute worst day ever
And don’t try to convince me that
There’s something good in each day
Because, when you take a close look,
The world is a pretty evil place.
Even if
Some goodness does shine through once in a while
Satisfaction and happiness don’t last.
And it’s not true that
It’s all in the mind and heart
True happiness can be attained
Only if one’s surroundings are good.
It’s not true that good exists
I’m sure you can agree that
The reality
My attitude
It’s all beyond my control
And you’ll never in a million years hear me say
Today was a very good day.

Now read it from bottom to top, the other way, and see what I really feel about my day.

What a clear illustration of the importance of perspective, and how encouraging to know we choose how to view each day.  What kind of day will each of us choose to have?  How about THE BEST DAY EVER!

Until Next Time – Sylvia
