The information below is for those invited to speak at Friends After Diagnosis meetings.
Thank you for volunteering your time and expertise to Friends after Diagnosis! We are looking forward to hosting you.
When: 2:00 – 3:30 PM
Where: Friendship House
3404 Aviation Blvd. (northwest corner of Aviation and Airport Road)
Vero Beach 32960
We are interested in hearing about new advancements, updates or resources in the community that will improve quality of life for women diagnosed with cancer. You are welcome to be as specific or as broad in the presentation of your topic as you choose. Typically our experts present for 15 – 30 minutes, followed by a question/answer period. We usually have 10 – 30 survivors attend. A flat-screen television (e.g., for PowerPoint presentations) and DVD player are available. Hand-outs are welcome, including your business cards. If you have a PowerPoint presentation, some of our survivors may wish to have a copy; if this is acceptable to you, please plan to bring 20-25 copies of your key slides.
The meeting opens promptly at 2:00 and begins with community announcements. We are also prepared at the open of meetings to take time with a new survivor that may wish to share her/his story. Once these items are finished, we will introduce you. If possible, please provide Lin with some biographic information to facilitate this.
We ask our experts to be prepared to present standing at a lectern at the head of the table, which helps attendees to see and hear the presentation. Also, please be aware that the survivors are at different stages in their recovery, including newly diagnosed, in treatment, in full remission, and at end of life. HOPE is key to our meetings and recovery.
You are welcome to bring one or more guests. Our meetings are open to women with a cancer diagnosis and their loved ones, and are listed on our calendar page. Thank you again for your time, and please contact Lin if you have questions. On behalf of the Friends, we look forward to your presentation.
