Friends After Diagnosis is a 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of women diagnosed with cancer. It is our hope and vision to see that all women diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones have lives filled with wisdom, wellness, fellowship, and peace.
To that end, we offer support groups, wellness programs, personal services, events, and networking to help survivors feel connected and secure in a community that truly cares. Our inclusive community is diverse, welcoming all ages, stages of life, and belief systems without question.
Lung cancer is by far the leading cause of cancer death in the US, accounting for about 1 in 5 of all cancer deaths. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined.
On a positive note, the number of new lung cancer cases continues to decrease, partly because more people are quitting smoking (or not starting). The number of deaths from lung cancer continues to drop as well, due to fewer people smoking and advances in early detection and treatment.
Feelings of isolation after a cancer diagnosis are common, but giving in to those feelings can keep the body from generating the healing energy it needs. In Friends After Diagnosis, survivors help each other, and it’s become an essential part of the cancer care community on the Treasure Coast.
